In this section you learned the most important thing in the entire
course. Reasoning is not about "winning arguments." It is about being
a good person. Good people are thoughtful people.
The sad thing is that most people are either non-critical thinkers
or weak sense critical thinkers. This is true even of people who
are well educated - even those who have taken this course. Why?
Because reasoning is primarily about one's attitude. Most people
aren't interested in discovering the truth. They are interested
in defended their preconceived notions about reality.
Thankfully, you are better than that. You've taken this course
to heart. You are teachable. Remember the words of Socrates. "The
unexamined life is not worth living."
Start examining. Change your mind where necessary. Develop conviction
where warranted. Be curious. Be brave. Be smart. Good luck.
Closing thought: Memorize the "Critical Thinker's Credo"
Always be open-minded.
Never be gullible.
Always be questioning.
Never be cynical.
